Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson has reportedly been hospitalized with a high fever following a regular checkup.
The 87-year-old talent manager, who shepherded the Jackson Five to fame, has remained in a Los Angeles hospital since Friday after feeling weak during routine tests with his doctor, TMZ reported Wednesday.
The elderly Jackson was “doing much better” over the weekend, son Jermaine Jackson told the gossip site Saturday in a video posted Wednesday — but doctors are apparently still attempting to understand his condition.
“He came for a checkup at his doctor’s but then they put him in a hospital,” Jermaine Jackson said. “The way that we got the news, he was not doing well.”
“He’s just tired. He’s 87,” he added. “We’re just trying to hold on to him as long as we can.”
Jackson’s current condition is unknown. As of Saturday, he was “very strong” and “up there telling jokes,” his son said.
He was hospitalized last summer after a “cardiac arrest followed a mini-stroke,” Jermaine Jackson shared on Twitter at the time.
