The CDC has issued an advisory urging pregnant women to avoid traveling to Wynwood, a neighborhood in Miami where the virus is being spread by mosquitoes.

So far officials have found 14 cases of the virus.

The Ohio Health Department has confirmed 28 cases of Zika virus in the state.

27 cases came from returning travelers from Zika-affected areas, and one case was through sexual transmission involving a returning traveler.

But none of those cases came from mosquitoes here in Ohio.

Still, they’re taking action to collect data on the type of mosquito that could spread the virus.

Officials with the Ohio Department of Health say they’ve been preparing for the Zika virus since January.

Right now they’re focused on mosquito surveillance across the state.

They ordered 500 BG Sentinel mosquito traps for local health departments, including the following counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Stark and Summit.
