At Euclid High School today, students huddled off the field…for number 48.
Junior Andre Jackson was a fullback and outside linebacker for the Panthers, who were playing Solon last Friday night.
According to his coach, Jeff Rotsky, Jackson was injured while going for the football. He was either kicked or kneed.
It did not appear to be a head injury.
Today, University Hospitals released a statement confirming that Jackson went to Ahuja Medical Center Friday night for treatment. He was then released Saturday morning.
But something wasn’t right.
Because the next day, he was taken by E-M-S to another U-H facility – Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital – where he died.
The hospital isn’t saying how, but promises a full review of Jackson’s care and and a meeting with his family.
