Tina Knowles, the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, has opened up about life after her divorce with Matthew Knowles, this time in an interview with T.D. Jakes on his talk show “The T.D. Jakes Show.”
“I have always believed in life after divorce, although there was a period of time when I wondered, I had doubts.” Knowles, 62, said. “You know, I was 59 years old and was so engrossed in my work. I was running the company, I was doing all these other things and working,” she continued.
“I just didn’t think that there was any way that I could meet someone,” said Tina, who was married from 1980 to 2011 to talent manager Mathew Knowles, the father of Beyoncé and Solange. “So I started by falling in love with myself again. That was really important,” she went on to say, which the live audience greeted with a round of applause.
Tina married actor Richard Lawson in 2015, two years after they began dating. Because of that marriage, she is now the stepmother of actress Bianca Lawson.
