Official: Las Vegas Shooter Tried To Buy Tracer Rounds Before Massacre:

Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock tried to buy tracer ammunition at a gun show in the Phoenix area in recent weeks, a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation tells CNN.

Paddock bought other ammunition at the show, but he couldn’t obtain the tracer ammunition, the official said.
As a result Paddock, who killed 58 people and injured hundreds of others in Sunday’s deadly attack, probably couldn’t see what he was hitting in the darkness, the official said — he was indiscriminately spraying bullets into the crowd just hundreds of yards from his suite on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

The official explains that tracer ammunition, which is legal, would have allowed him to see and perhaps be more accurate.

Trump At Dinner With Military Commanders Cites ‘Calm Before The Storm'”

While taking photos alongside military leaders and their spouses before a dinner at the White House, President Donald Trump made an ambiguous statement, citing “the calm before the storm.”

“You guys know what this represents? Maybe it’s the calm before the storm,” Trump said at the photo op Thursday night, following a meeting with his top military commanders.
When reporters present asked what he meant, Trump replied: “It could be, the calm, the calm before the storm.”
Reporters asked if the storm was related to Iran or ISIS.
Trump replied: “We have the world’s great military people in this room, I will tell you that. And uh, we’re gonna have a great evening, thank you all for coming.”

Congress Learns What A Bump Stock Is:

Most members of Congress had never even heard of them before this week.

But after the shooting in Las Vegas, Sen. Jeff Flake, a Republican from Arizona, was stunned by the audio he was hearing, the sounds of a gun popping at a concert in Las Vegas at a frequency he was almost sure wasn’t just coming from a semi-automatic weapon.
“I think all of us assumed that when we heard the audio that it was a fully automatic weapon. … How in the world would the shooter get that?” Flake asked.
Flake called a friend who collected guns and asked him: What was he hearing?
“He heard the audio and he thought ‘that wasn’t fully automatic. Fully automatic is about 800 rounds, and that sounded like about 500.’ … He started telling me about, not just the bump stocks, about a crank and other methods to mechanically increase the rate of fire,” Flake sai

TMZ Obtains Photo Of OJ Simpson Signing Memorabilia In Private Session:

TMZ Sports reported Thursday that the recently paroled O.J. Simpson was seen signing memorabilia in a secret autograph session Tuesday night.

TMZ Sports tweeted a photo of Simpson’s signing as well:

The signing reportedly took place in a private room at a Las Vegas hotel, and Simpson was planning to do the same Wednesday night.

Simpson was granted parole in July after serving nine years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping, and he was released Sunday.

While Simpson was found not guilty of the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, he lost a civil suit that ordered he pay their families $33,500,000.

Portraits Of The Las Vegas Shooting Victims:

One was a man who died shielding his wife from gunfire on their wedding anniversary. Another was a city of Las Vegas employee who died in his boyfriend’s arms. And two others were a veteran corrections officer and his girlfriend who died on the trip they had planned for weeks.

At least 58 people were killed and nearly 500 others were injured Sunday night, authorities say, when a gunman fired on an outdoor country musical festival from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.
