So why aren’t we talking about it more? The overwhelming prevalence of the benign, non-cancerous growths are growing at a rapid rate in the African American community, to which has left women with little to no information on the options of relief in a timely manner. Joy Palevsky had fibroids in her uterus so large she looked five months pregnant, and her gynecologist was urging her to get the standard treatment for the condition: a hysterectomy.
