North Korea warns of nuclear showdown, calls Pence ‘political dummy’:

A North Korean official has lashed out at US Vice President Mike Pence and said Pyongyang is ready for a nuclear showdown if dialogue with the United States fails.

Choe Son Hui, a vice-minister in the North Korean Foreign Ministry, said if the US continued on its current path, she would suggest to North Korea‘s leadership that they reconsider the planned summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“Whether the US will meet us at a meeting room or encounter us at nuclear-to-nuclear showdown is entirely dependent upon the decision and behavior of the United States,” Choe said in comments carried by North Korea’s state-run KCNA news agency Thursday.
Choe was responding to comments by Pence made Monday during a Fox News interview that she deemed “unbridled and impudent.”
Facebook now requires your Social Security number to buy political ads:

Facebook users in the United States who want to run certain ads on the platform will need to hand over the last four digits of their social security number and a picture of a government-issued ID.

The social network now requires anyone who wants to run ads related to political campaigns, civil rights, immigration, guns, economy, and other issues, to prove they’re in the United States. Part of the proof required is the last four digits of your Social Security number.

The move is part of a series of initiatives by Facebook to increase transparency on the platform after a Russian government-linked troll group spent thousands of rubles on Facebook adstargeting Americsans ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Scared NFL Makes Epic Mistake with Anthem Policy:

The NFL has gotten things wrong before, but in the recent history of this league, it has gotten fewer things more horribly, disgracefully, stupidly, terribly wrong than what it decided to do Wednesday in trying to half-heartedly stop players from protesting during the national anthem.

In a statement released by the league, team owners decided that starting this season, players can stay in the locker room during the anthem. If players take a knee to protest, say, unarmed black and brown people being unjustly shot by law enforcement, commissioner Roger Goodell can potentially fine both teams and players.

Kelly Clarkson jokes about her recent weight loss:

“The Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson just won Season 14 of the show and is also drawing notice for her newly trim figure.

The Grammy-winning singer has been the subject of a lot of chatter over the years about her physical appearance
She joked this week about her apparent weight loss with “Entertainment Tonight.”
“I have to shout out my whole glam squad,” Clarkson said at a press conference for “The Voice’s” season finale. “I literally hired Harry Potter … and SPANX,” she added, referring to the underwear known for making people appear thinner. “It’s all like a sausage.”

Pete Souza’s new book throws ‘SHADE’ on Trump administration:

Former presidential photographer Pete Souza can’t stop, and won’t stop, throwing shade at the Trump administration.

“SHADE: A Tale of Two Presidents” will be published in October, Souza announced Wednesday in an Instagram post.
Since the end of the Obama administration, Souza, who photographed Presidents Barack Obama, a Democrat, and Ronald Reagan, a Republican, has frequently taken to his Instagram account to post images in response to President Donald Trump’s actions and policies. While some of the images were subtle critiques, Souza, who hadn’t previously been seen as a partisan figure, soon became known for visually trolling the Trump administration, which, he said Wednesday, “has become a reality game show.”
