How Trump’s disdain for NATO could help Putin:

The big takeaway of the so far bad-tempered NATO summit is that President Donald Trump has little time for the alliance and a thin appreciation of the track record and historic purpose of an organization that has kept the peace and preserved Western democracy since World War II.

He has given no sign he sees the alliance as other US presidents did, as a way of projecting American power, fortifying democracy, containing German expansionism and holding Russia at bay on a continent where twice last century, thousands of American boys went to die.

Instead, he appears to view it more like a contracting service, in which US allies should be paying far more in cash for the privilege of being America’s friend. If he sees any flow-back benefit to membership for the United States, the President rarely mentions it.

Papa John’s founder resigns as chairman after using N-word on conference call:

John Schnatter, the founder and public face of Papa John’s pizza, has resigned as the company’s chairman after it emerged he used the N-word on a conference call in May.

Papa John’s (PZZA) said in a statement late Wednesday it would appoint a new chairman “in the coming weeks.

Schnatter had apologized earlier in the day after Forbes reported that he used the racial slur while participating in a role-playing exercise designed to prevent public relations crises.

In a statement issued through the company, Schnatter said: “News reports attributing the use of inappropriate and hurtful language to me during a media training session regarding race are true. Regardless of the context, I apologize. Simply stated, racism has no place in our society.

Woman beaten at Georgia home of Buffalo Bills star LeSean McCoy:

Police in this Atlanta suburb are investigating a home invasion at a house belonging to NFL superstar and Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy in which his former girlfriend was violently assaulted and hospitalized and another woman was injured.

The incident happened at 3:18 a.m. ET Tuesday in McCoy’s upscale neighborhood, which is 30 miles north of Atlanta.
“When officers arrived they found one victim who had been physically assaulted by a lone intruder,” Milton Police Capt. Charles Barstow said.
Milton police did not release the identity of the victim or of another woman also in the home at the time, but Atlanta attorney Tanya Mitchell Graham said the victim was her client and McCoy’s estranged girlfriend, Delicia Cordon.
Photos provided to CNN by Graham — first posted on social media by another woman — show Cordon with blood on her face and hands, the lawyer said.
