White House paranoia deepens after Omarosa tapes:

Secret tapes. Nondisclosure agreements. A lot of name calling.

The revelations surrounding Omarosa Manigault Newman’s new memoir, and the ensuing fallout, are underscoring a level of dysfunction many now see as just part of life under President Donald Trump.
On Monday, the former senior aide revealed a recording she’d made of the President phoning her on the day after she was fired. Earlier, Manigault Newman released a tape of chief of staff John Kelly doing the firing in the White House Situation Room.

Neither contained outwardly embarrassing language. But the tapes’ mere existence confirmed a longstanding reality: in Trump’s White House, there are few norms or expectations of decorum that cannot be shattered.

Utah man crashes plane into his own home after being arrested on domestic violence charges:

A Utah man died flying a Cessna 535 citation jet into his home, where his wife and her son were, early Monday, hours after he was arrested for domestic violence, police said.

The incident began at American Fork Canyon, about 35 miles south of Salt Lake City, when the Utah County Sheriff’s Office received calls about a domestic violence situation between Duane Youd and his wife on Sunday night, according to Payson Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Noemi Sandoval.
“They had been drinking and an argument broke out and he started hitting her and some witnesses called in to police to say a guy was hitting a woman,” Sandoval said on Monday.

Trump has no black senior White House staff:

None of President Donald Trump’s senior White House officials are black.

Only a handful of his senior staff are of Latino, Asian or Arab descent, according to a CNN review of 48 senior White House officials. Instead, the President is being advised by a senior White House staff that is overwhelmingly white.
The lack of diversity in Trump’s West Wing comes back into focus as Trump’s longtime adviser Omarosa Manigault Newman, the only African-American to serve in a senior role in Trump’s White House, re-emerged into the public arena to promote her new book. In the eight months since Manigault Newman was fired, Trump has yet to appoint a single African-American to a senior White House role as either an assistant or a deputy assistant to the President.

Leonys Martin Remains in Hospital, Battling Life-Threatening Infection:

he Cleveland Indians are still without center fielder Leonys Martin as he reportedly battles a “life-threatening bacterial infection.”

Zack Meisel of The Athletic reported the news Monday, adding the infection “attacked his internal organs.” Per Meisel, Martin is in stable condition and “improving.”

The Indians acquired Martin from the Detroit Tigers via trade prior to the July 31 non-waiver deadline, but he has not appeared in a game since an Aug. 7 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

“We have to respect what the family wishes, so we are,” Indians manager Terry Francona previously told reporters, via Jeff Schudel of the News-Herald. “We talked to the team a little bit. We just need to respect their privacy right now.
