Award-winning Gospel singer, Kierra Sheard, may be on a budget herself, but that hasn’t stopped her from reaching out to help those impacted by the government shutdown—the longest in US history.

“I’ve been keeping up with the government shutdown and it’s really breaking my heart,” said Sheard, 31, in a recent Instagram video.

“I’m just really saddened that the president would do such a thing for a wall, for division,” continued the licensed Evangelist-Missionary in the Church of God In Christ. “I want to be a solution or an answer to someone’s problem who works for the government, and I want to sow a seed into your life for your sacrifice and your service.”

The government shutdown continues into its fifth week as the standstill over President Donald Trump’s border wall remains ongoing. Democrats are now proposing hundreds of millions of dollars for new immigration judges and improvements to ports of entry from Mexico but nothing for the wall.

As this partisan fight continues, federal workers are not receiving pay, and many families are suffering. Sheard, a generous entrepreneur with a heart for charity, said in the video, “I just want to commend you. I want to applaud you. I’m on a budget too, so I’m going to try to do the best that I can.”
