Homeless Populations Surge In Los Angeles County

As part of the Home for the Holidays initiative, the Cleveland VA, HUD and the Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority have increased their outreach efforts to connect homeless and distressed veterans with housing vouchers and VA benefits.

HUD’s VASH program, also known as VA Supportive Housing, combines HUD housing vouchers with supportive services from the VA. The goal of the program is get veterans off the street and into treatment and therapy. On Thursday, the Cleveland VA hosted dozens of local agencies and property owners to create a ‘one stop shop’ for veterans.

CMHA and the VA provided veterans with transportation and other assistance so they could view apartments throughout the Cleveland area.
