It began in 2008 as a journal in which MiKaila Sapp made entries almost every day.
Now, the 13-year-old daughter of Grand Rapids pastor and acclaimed gospel music singer Marvin Sapp has a new book, “The Girl Behind the Mask.”
“I love to write, but I didn’t think I was good enough to be published,” MiKaila said last week during a skating party that drew several hundred to Woodland Sports Center on 28th Street SE.
Marvin Sapp is pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, and the church’s youth choir sponsored the party during which MiKaila signed copies of the just-completed book.
“I took pieces of my journal and made them into chapters,” MiKaila said of her eight-chapter, 60-page volume.
