To your family, that is. Sure, people may know you. They may know about you. They may be aware of something fancy you did. That's all fine and good. There's nothing wrong with people thinking you are special.

Our children today are very busy trying to fit into someone else’s armor—to fit in with the kings of our society and try to pass themselves off as someone other than the unique and special person that God made. How do we reach our children so that they could have the courage David did? If a rock star was offering his clothes, his lifestyle, and his friends to a young person face to face, how many do you think would have the courage to say, “No thanks, that just doesn’t fit me.”

Let’s say that you are training your body to run in a marathon, or maybe you’re training yourself to play well on the basketball court. Well first, you have a goal that you’re trying to accomplish. There’s some result that you want, whether it’s being able to make a jump shot every time or being able to run a mile in five minutes.

As we move closer to the start of a new year, it is natural to reflect. Some of us make resolutions to do better. Others of us end commitments or make fresh starts. Wherever you may find yourself, making prayer a priority in your life will only enhance 2010.

Unity in the family of God is of utmost importance to our Heavenly Father. His heart’s desire is that we be one; love each other, encourage each other, fellowship and that we come to each other’s aid. By doing these things, we become a stronger, more powerful entity in this earth realm. Only through unity can we really rule, reign, and advance in the will of God.

Throughout the New Testament, Jesus continuously reminds us that He is not functioning in or under His will, but He is doing the will of His father who is in heaven. Even in His most agonizing moment in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus keeps us focused on the connection that has been established and maintained between Him and His father, God. We do not read where Jesus disobeyed His father. We do not read where Jesus disrespected His father. We do not read where Jesus denied knowing His father. This was indeed the perfect relationship--this was the perfect connection.
