The former University of Akron student who forced a plane to make an emergency landing at Hopkins International Airport appeared in court on Tuesday.

Bond for Saleh Ali S. Alramakh, 21, was set at one-million dollars in Cleveland Municipal Court. He faces one felony count of interfering with flight crew members and attendants.

The Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, native is accused of causing a disturbance prior to take off of United flight 944 from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany, last Friday.

Alramakh was permitted to return to his seat, but he was accused of causing additional problems shortly after take off.

According to the government, Alramakh was told again to be seated before passengers claim he verbally and physically assaulting a crew member.

At least one passenger helped restrain Alramakh while the plane was diverted to Cleveland.

Following his appearance in municipal court, Alramakh was in United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio where he was represented by two attorneys, including counsel requested by the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
