Police are investigating a suspicious cooler that was left at Public Square just after 8:30pm Wednesday night.

Public Square was shut down for a short period while police and the RTA bomb dog investigated. No bomb was located and as of 9pm, the square was back open.

A source tells 19 Action News that this was a black soft side cooler that was left on the sidewalk near the Renaissance Hotel side entrance across from the square itself on West Roadway in Cleveland.

The source says someone approached security at the casino and said there was a suspicious package at that location. After the package was cleared and it was determined to not be a bomb, police opened the cooler and inside was a towel and a notebook with a note that had a written message: “There’s nothing in here to die for, this is a hoax.”
