The choir and congregation at Central Bible Baptist Church in Cleveland Heights had one more special song added to the song list for Sunday’s 11 a.m. worship service.

That song was “Happy Birthday.”

Family and friends gathered to celebrate church member Vivian Rogers’s 106th birthday. Two birthday cakes were cut for everyone to enjoy. Vivian also received a bouquet of flowers along with a “Celebration of Life” certificate from the city of Cleveland Heights.

Rogers’s daughter, Annie Crider, is also a member of Central Bible Baptist Church. Rogers moved to Cleveland 10 years ago from Charleston, W. Va. and now lives with Annie.

Crider shared that Rogers never ate a lot of junk food and never consumed salt. There was, however, one special treat Rogers loved sharing with others.

“She always brings peppermint candy,” said Crider. “She hands it out to everybody that she knows, two or three pieces.”

Crider also stated how important church and church family is to her mother
