There are only 21 shopping days until Christmas, but for some local families in need, that won’t matter.  Church Street Ministries is one of Cleveland’s local charities that allows families in need to come in and pick out gifts for their children.  However, this year without help, that won’t happen either.

“This used to be all filled with things for children. We had all kinds of games, all kinds of cars for little boys. This is empty, this year,” said Frannie Millward who runs the ministry.

The 87-year-old has been working with families in need for 65 years. This year is unlike any she has seen in decades.

“Probably the depression was the last time I saw something like this, and I lived through the depression,” added Millward.

Diane Vargo comes to the ministry for assistance. For her, the aid is invaluable.

“My son is 10. I’ve had to tell him Christmas might have to be postponed for him because I just don’t have it to give to him,” said Vargo.
