The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is proud to announce a new community partnership funded as a part of the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) community program Community Approaches to Reducing Sexually Transmitted Diseases (CARS).This partnership is with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), Chicago Public Schools (CPS), Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL).
Together, these partners will launch “Project Elevate,” an innovative sexually transmitted infections (STI) prevention and treatment campaign created by and for young women of color (YWC) and young transgender women of color (YTWC) in Chicago that encourages young women to take control of their health. The three-year CARS project will support the planning, implementation and evaluation of innovative, interdisciplinary interventions to reduce STD disparities, decrease barriers and stigma, promote sexual health, and advance community wellness.
