Michael Phelps is used to rewriting history — now he’s eclipsing it too.

You have to go back around 2,160 years, give a week or two, to find an athlete who could challenge the imperious record held by the “Baltimore Bullet.”

The US star claimed the 22nd Olympic gold of his Olympic career Thursday after powering past the opposition in the final of the 200-meter individual medley.

Phuket, Hua Hin hit As Thailand Rocked By Eleven Bombs In One Day:

Five provinces in Thailand have been hit by eleven bombings in less than a day, authorities say.

At least four people have been killed and about 34 injured.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts — and it’s not clear if the bombings are connected.

Thai police say there’s no evidence the attacks are related to international terrorism.

“These incidents are different from the usual terrorism acts, they are more local sabotage on certain locations and provinces,” Deputy Police Spokesman Maj. Gen. Piyapan Pingmuang said at a news conference Friday.

Hurricane Season Activity Expected To Ramp Up, Be Busiest Since 2012:

Even as the United States’ “major hurricane drought” continues, NOAA’s updated 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook, which was released Thursday, is calling for this year to be the “strongest since 2012.”

The decision to increase the number of expected named storms, from 10-16 in the outlook released in late May, to 12-17 in the latest outlook, isn’t entirely unexpected. The update comes about 40% through the hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, and the activity has been above average to date with five named storms, of which two have become hurricanes. On average the Atlantic would not have five named storms until the end of August, and we would not normally see the second hurricane until August 28 (Earl became the second hurricane on August 3).

Boy Falls Off Pennsylvania Roller Coaster:

The nation saw its fourth amusement park accident in five days when a boy apparently fell out of roller coaster in Pennsylvania on Thursday, a local official told CNN.

Details were sketchy about the child and the injuries he received at Idlewild and SoakZone in Ligonier around 1 p.m.

The child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh about 50 miles away, said Westmoreland County public safety spokeswoman Mary Beth Eslary. A hospital spokeswoman said the parents have asked that no information be released.

In the other recent accidents around the country, one child has been killed, another suffered a brain injury and at least two others were hospitalized.

JetBlue Turbulence Puts 24 In Hospital:

t least 22 customers and 2 flight crew members aboard a JetBlue plane have been taken to a hospital for evaluation after the flight experienced rough turbulence, according to Katherine McMillan, JetBlue spokeswoman.

The flight was en route from Boston to Sacramento when it had to be diverted to Rapid City, South Dakota.

JetBlue has sent a replacement aircraft to Rapid City to take the remaining passengers to Sacramento, according to a release issued by the airline.

Simone Biles Wins All-Around Gold At Rio Games In US One-Two:

Biles and Raisman encouraged each other throughout the competition.
