Hurricane Maria Strengthens Again As It Heads Toward Turks and Caicos:

Hurricane Maria regained strength Thursday morning as it continued to ravage the Caribbean, with the Turks and Caicos islands next in its cross-hairs.

The Category 3 storm lashed the northern coast of the Dominican Republic with heavy rain and 115-mph winds.
It is likely to strengthen over the warm waters of the Turks and Caicos, CNN meteorologist Pedram Javaheri said. The low-lying islands are particularly at risk of high storm surges.

The best case scenario, he said, is that the storm could skirt the island chain 40-50 miles to the east.

Trump Slashes At Obama’s Legacy, But Risks His Own:

Republicans for years failed to gut the legacy of their nemesis Barack Obama: Now they can do so within a matter of days.

President Donald Trump and GOP lawmakers have the chance to shred the signature achievements of the 44th President’s two terms — Obamacare and the nuclear deal with Iran.
Trump has often given the impression that overturning his predecessor’s imprint on America and the world from the environment to health care, from foreign policy to Wall Street is the most compelling rationale of his presidency.
“Obamacare is a disaster, it is failing badly,” Trump said Wednesday. Hours earlier, he said he’d already decided whether to stick to a nuclear pact he blasted on Tuesday as an “embarrassment to the United States.”

Fears Of Building’s collapse As Rescuers Race To Reach Girl Trapped Under Rubble In Mexico:

Rescuers are getting closer to pinpointing the exact location of a 12-year-old girl trapped beneath the debris of a collapsed elementary school in Mexico.

“At this moment we know that at least one girl is alive inside,” Major Jose Luis Vergara with the Mexican Navy told Foro TV, warning of premature reports that a rescue is imminent.
At Colegio Enrique Rebsamen — one of several structures that crumbled in Tuesday’s earthquake in Central Mexico — rescuers are hauling long pieces of lumber and carrying chunks of concrete down away from the debris
The magnitude-7.1 quake turned dozens of buildings in central Mexico into dust and debris, killing at least 250 people, Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera told CNN affiliate Foro TV.

Ivanka Trump Reveals Struggle With Postpartum Depression:

Ivanka Trump, daughter of and senior adviser to President Donald Trump, revealed that she had postpartum depression after the births of her children in an interview for “The Dr. Oz Show.” The program, filmed Monday, will air Thursday.

Trump, 35, and her husband, Jared Kushner, 36, have three children: Arabella, 6, Joseph, 3, and Theodore, 1.
“With each of my three children, I had some level of postpartum depression,” Trump said. Symptoms of the condition, which affects some women after giving birth, can include extreme sadness and anxiety.

Why Bill and Melinda Gates are spending a lot of time in Washington:

Bill and Melinda Gates want to keep foreign aid flowing from Washington. But with a president that believes in “America First,” they’re fighting an uphill battle.

That’s led the billionaire Microsoft (MSFTTech30) founder and his wife, who together lead the world’s largest private charitable foundation, to Capitol Hill quite a bit these days.

And they’re speaking with “everybody” — both the White House and members of Congress — about the importance of foreign aid, Melinda Gates said in an interview with CNN’s Poppy Harlow on Tuesday.
