Why Trump doesn’t want to punish Saudi Arabia:

The Trump White House may have too much at stake to make Saudi Arabia pay a proportionate price for the apparent murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

If Riyadh finds a scapegoat and absolves senior members of the royal family over the disappearance of The Washington Post columnist in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago, Trump may accept it.

For multiple geopolitical and domestic political reasons, the administration has far more to gain from helping engineer a face-saving exit for itself and its ally from its biggest foreign policy crisis in nearly two years in office than by making an example of the Saudis in a belated stand for human rights.

Nikki Haley jokes at fundraising dinner:

Outgoing United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley joked Thursday during the annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner that the organizers had “wanted an Indian woman, but Elizabeth Warren failed her DNA test.”

At the dinner, which is known for political figures cracking jokes during the keynote address, Haley said that after President Donald Trump’s speech at the charity dinner for the Catholic Church two years ago and Paul Ryan giving a “choir boy” speech last year, “this year you wanted to spice things up again, right?” Haley said.
“I get it. You wanted an Indian woman, but Elizabeth Warren failed her DNA test,” Haley joked

How Netflix outgrew ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Orange is the New Black:

“House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black” both premiered in 2013, almost instantly putting Netflix on the map as an original-programming option, awards contender and pop-culture powerhouse. While the company hasn’t outgrown them, exactly, as these signature series come to an end, it’s clear that its remarkable growth has rendered each a bit of an afterthought.

Netflix confirmed Wednesday that the upcoming seventh season of “Orange is the New Black” will be the final one, an announcement that comes a few weeks before “House of Cards” begins its last season. While the circumstances are quite different — the latter had its lifespan truncated by the scandal that engulfed star Kevin Spacey, triggering his exit — the fact that such a twin loss represents a mere blip is a sign of just how far the streaming service has come in a relatively short time.
Man confesses to 30-year-old killing. Police say he is a suspect in more deaths:

A Pennsylvania man serving life in prison for the grisly murder of his wife and stepdaughter has confessed to another killing, resolving a cold case from the 1980s, officials said Thursday.

Several other cases are under review, they said.
Regis Brown, 59, admitted to killing Bryce Kenneth Tompkins, 45, whose body was found by hunters partially submerged in Neshannock Creek in Lawrence County in December 1988, authorities said. He told police that Tompkins was killed because he witnessed a burglary.
Brown was sentenced last month in the March deaths of his wife, Michelle Brown, 53, and his stepdaughter, Tammy Greenawalt, 35.
